My name is Roselin (she/her). I was born and raised in Des Moines, Iowa. I live in central Iowa with my partner, Matt; our two fantastic daughters, two cats and one dog. I enjoy the great outdoors, homemaking, singing, and my work in the non-profit field. I am a woman of Nigerian and rural American culture.
My introduction to motherhood was rocky. My first baby, Iris, was diagnosed with a heart defect at birth (transposition of the great arteries) and was flown out of state for open-heart surgery. I say this, not to scare you, but to advise you that parents are capable of doing more than we ever think possible. After she was born, I found myself learning and doing things that I truly didn't think I had in me. And I could not have done it without my family & community.
Today, Iris is a healthy and rambunctious toddler. She has been joined by a marvelous baby sister, little Violet. Our family is complete and thriving.
Philosophy
I believe that birth and parenthood are beautiful (even when they don't feel like it) and my hope is to empower my clients to tap into their inner resources for a successful, memorable birth experience.
I believe that, at our core, we are creatures of community. I believe that every birthing person deserves someone in their corner; providing comfort, education and guidance.
In 2016 I received an Associate's degree from DMACC. In 2020 I received a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Northern Iowa.
I have been trained in birth doula services by the Iowa Black Doula Collective and am currently working to obtain DONA International certification.
